Practice

See your project come to life right before your eyes, as we work together to turn your vision into reality.

It can be difficult searching for an architect, especially to find someone that you trust will realise your vision whilst having a positive rapport. Sandy’s approach is simple! Every client and every project is different and therefore she will tailor her process on an individual basis. Sandy aims to achieve what you want, and will guide you through the appropriate strategy.

Sandy Fishpool

Sandy’s passion for architecture and heritage started in childhood with visits to historical buildings like the Theatre of Epidaurus in Greece. This interest was evident in her studies on the historic Bastides of southern France and early projects in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Sandy is on the RIBA Conservation Register, and she can offer heritage services including advice, tailored design solutions, and heritage statements and impact assessments to clients with historic buildings.

Sandy has recently been awarded a Master’s degree in Building Conservation and Adaptation and is actively involved with the Skipton Civic Society. She has recorded and researched several local historic buildings, including the Mill Bridge Gallery, and shared her findings at an event held at Skipton Town Hall.

In addition to her conservation work, Sandy has designed bespoke homes in challenging locations, including Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Her ability to balance her clients’ needs with the requirements of local planning authorities has resulted in homes that are exceptional in design and seamlessly integrated into their surroundings.

One of her notable projects is a contemporary replacement house in Nidderdale, inspired by the architectural principles of Frank Lloyd Wright. The house uses traditional, locally sourced materials and design elements that reflect the region’s heritage, demonstrating that modern architecture can thrive even in the most sensitive environments.

Throughout her career, Sandy has remained dedicated to enhancing the built environment through a combination of innovation, respect for heritage, and careful consideration of landscape. With every project, she strives to create spaces that are not only functional but also meaningful, beautiful, and in harmony with their context.

Sustainability

In a time when we are increasingly aware of our resources, lifestyle choices, and the future of our planet, sustainability guides everything Sandy does. She does not see sustainability as a passing architectural trend. It is at the core of her business and she has been delivering sustainable projects for 30 years.
